The Bioarchaeology of Non Ban Jak, an Iron Age community in northeast Thailand

The Bioarchaeology of Non Ban Jak, an Iron Age community in northeast Thailand

Until the excavation of Non Ban Jak (NBJ), the human skeletal record of the late Iron Age in northeast Thailand invariably consisted of small samples or, if larger, of poorly preserved burials, limiting the ability to understand this time period.

This presentation will provide the first preliminary summary of the demography and selected aspects of health and disease for this community including high infant mortality, extensive dental agenesis and significant infectious disease.
