The evolution of tiered social organizations: The case of the Rwenzori colobus

Rwenzori colobus female newt
Several animal species, including humans, form multilevel societies (MLS), the most complex form of social organization. This talk will examine the pathways to MLS formation and discuss how our long-term research on Rwenzori Angolan colobus monkeys in Uganda demonstrates the putative stepwise evolutionary path that lead to the evolution of their unique MLS.
