Kin and Connection: Ancient DNA between the Science and the Social
This interdisciplinary project brings together archaeological methods, data analysis, and science studies to explore how we can tell stories about social relations in to deep past. The emerging field of palaeogenomics has had a profound impact on archaeological narrative building, but at times overwhelmed the complexity and incompleteness of the archaeological record with a torrent of fine-grained scientific data. This project seeks to build a more cohesive relationship between biomolecular information and archaeological data through novel research into kin and connections among past people as well as how we build knowledge in collaboration with our 'research kin'.
