Wednesday 18 May 2022

Congratulations to Marcus Johnson, the 2022 recipient of the Tall Foundation Scholarship in Archaeology.

The Scholarship, funded by the Tall Foundation, provides financial support of $5,000 to students who are undertaking research in the field of Archaeology.

Canberra local Marcus Johnson has always had an interest in history, especially ancient history, since childhood. Marcus completed a Diploma of Liberal Studies, then a Bachelor of Classical Studies and Bachelor of Archaeological Practice at ANU.
He is currently doing Honours in Archaeology.

Marcus’ Honours research will focus on the maritime technologies of Southeast Asian cultures.

“This money will go such a long way in helping me and supporting me through my studies,” says Marcus.

“Previously I was worried that I would need to spend more time working than studying but thanks to the kind generosity of the donors I am now able to spend more time focusing on my studies. It is hard to quantify the impact of their support but it is fair to say that I am immensely grateful for their faith in me.”

The Tall Foundation Scholarship in Archaeology is offered annually, with applications opening in December.
