Mohammad Ibrahim Khalad is trying to understand the perception of masculinity among Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. The central enquiry of his PhD research is – what is like to be a man while living in a vulnerable situation like refugee camp? His interest on migration and masculinity started during his second master’s studies. He got his second master’s degree from International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam with a research paper distinction. He also got ‘best research paper award’ for his thesis named: Ambiguous Positionalities: Bangladeshi Migrant men in The Hague.


Khalad is also a faculty member of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh (now in study leave). He has been working there since 2010. Before that, he worked in the research department of the UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS) and Nagorik Uddyog.
