Masters in Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development with Commendation, ANU; Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude, Bryn Mawr CollegeDiana is a PhD candidate in anthropology in the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University. Her research utilises changing livelihood strategies in the aguaje (Mauritia flexuosa) palm fruit economy as a lens to examine social, economic, and environmental changes in the Amazonian city of Iquitos, Peru. She is also interested in multi-species interactions between the aguaje and suri (Rhynchophorus Palmarum), an edible grub and local delicacy. She will be conducting fieldwork in the region from 2020-2021.
Diana has previously conducted ethnographic research in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Bali, Indonesia, as well as desk research for the Social Science Research Council, Verité, and Reprieve Australia. She has tutored at the undergraduate level in international political economy, visual anthropology, and Spanish. She completed the General Course at the London School of Economics, and holds a Certificate in Sustainable Environmental Management from the University of California Berkeley.
